Arthur's Xmas List 2006 ----------------------- Books ***** Holding steady on books at the moment, but there are a few I still want: "I'm Just Here For The Food" - Alton Brown (not the sequel) "Rachael Ray's 30 Minute Meals" - Rachael Ray (not the entertaining version) "A New Kind of Science" - Stephen Wolfram "An Introduction to Legal Reasoning" - Edward H. Levi "The Life and Death of Great American Cities" - Jane Jacobs "A Dirty Job" - Christopher Moore DVDs **** Stargate SG1: Seasons 4-8 Donnie Darko Requiem for a Dream (Directors Cut) Sen to Chihiro no kamikakushi Touch of Evil On the Waterfront Mallrats Chasing Amy Dogma Good Eats DVDs (available off Food Network) CDS *** Incredibles Soundtrack Pirates of the Caribbean Soundtrack Weird Al - Straight Out of Lynwood (These ones are definitely available on Amazon, but likely not in local stores. They're from a Mormon college, what do you want?) Vocal Point - Standing Room Only Vocal Point - Mouthing Off Vocal Point - Grand Slam Shockingly, I DO Work - Here's Stuff I Need ******************************************* "Effective Java Programming Language Guide" - Joshua Block Pricey but dang useful. A good pair of full-ear (monitor-style) headphones With volume control, preferably. Noise-cancelling is a plus but not necessary (expensive! Woo). Feed My Addictions ****************** PerplexCity card packs These are usually available from GameStop. They're not expensive, and at least there's less of them to collect than Magic: The Gathering. Sigh. Magic: The Gathering card packs I'll take whatever, but I currently have none of the Time Spiral expansion, so that's where I would start if I were allowed to spend money on them this month. Which I'm not. Apartment Stuff *************** KitchenAid Artisan Series 5-Quart Mixer, White Normally a hefty purchase, but you can get them factory-reconditioned from Amazon for approximately $200! Please don't bump down to the Classic series - reviews (and Cook's Illustrated) claim that even occasional bread kneading can burn out the motors on those. Pouring Shield for KitchenAid Mixer Absinthe You'll have to look for an overseas vendor. It's legal to buy in the US but not to sell. http://www.bestabsinthe.com/ has reputedly excellent absinthe but it's close to $70 a bottle at the cheapest. http://www.absinthebuyersguide.com/ has some viable other suggestions. Wireless Router Linksys is a decent enough brand. Shoot for 802.11g (may be called Wireless-G or something similar). Gold basket filter for 12 Cup Mr. Coffee coffee makers Basket filter - not cone! I've been unable to locate one. Money As always, the Generic Gift is well recieved.
